AJYCP stages demonstration against Coal India Limited

MARGHERITA, Feb 20: Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) Margherita Regiol Committee on Saturday staged a sit-in for three hours at Ledo Kendriya Rangamancha under Margherita Subsivision against the North Eastern Coalfields Coal India Limited, Margherita for its alleged failure to give employment to unemployed youths of Margherita and to stop open cast mining.

Salil Neog and Kanchan Bora, president and general secretary of AJYCP Margherita Regiol Committee, said that they submitted a deadline letter to North Eastern Coalfields, Coal India Limited Margherita with eight demands such as to provide employment to unemployed youths of Margherita region, to modernize the Central Hospital Coal India Limited, Margherita, to open mining school, private coal mining companies where workers are forced to work for 12 hours should be given eight hours duty, to impose Labour Act Law, to stop open cast mining and extract coal through other modern techniques, and to give compensation to those people who live near coal mining areas of Tirap who lost their land due to chemical water, among other demands. If these demands are not fulfilled soon, AJYCP Margherita Regiol Committee will intensify its agitation against North Eastern Coalfields Coal India Limited, Margherita, said Neog and Bora.
