Akhil Gogoi slams PM over dam construction

Moran, 19th March: “The Brahmaputra river that has been providing livelihood to many people of the State, has become the victim of a conspiracy by the Central Government led by Prime Minister rendra Modi,” said peasant leader Akhil Gogoi during the 4th fourth biennial conference of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS). He added that because of the Modi-led government, several people living in the rural areas of Assam were being deprived of water. Gogoi also blamed Union Minister Sarbanda Sonowal, BJP State president Siddharth Bhattacharya, State Minister Rockybul Hussain and other political figures. He said that the people of the State were willing to die but would not allow the construction of dams to be completed at any cost.
