AKRSU reiterates demand for ST status, Kamatapur State

Bongaigaon, June 28: “The peak of tolerance has reached. Now we have no option to tolerate more than this. It is time for do-or-die. We, the Koch-Rajbongshi people, are ready now to fight for our legal demands like separate Kamatapur State and ST categorization of Koch-Rajbongshi community,” said Gokul Ray, secretary of All Koch-Rajbongshi Students’ Union (AKRSU) in Bongaigaon on Thursday while addressing a mass gathering of AKRSU, Koch-Rajbongshi Women Wing and Chilaray Sena to demand of ST categorization of Koch-Rajbongshi community and formation of separate Kamatapur state.

Several Koch Rajbongshi organizations participated in the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Arun Ray, president of AKRSU, where several noted persons took part in it.

In this meeting they declared an agitation schedule for the coming days. According to this schedule, 24-hour long Assam bandh has been called on July 9 and three-hour long demonstration will be stage in Guwahati on July 17. They will stage demonstration in Ramlila Maidan of Delhi.

AKRSU leader Biswajit Ray said, “The BJP played only political game with our issues. We will give them a fitting answer in the next election.”
