DHEKIAJULI: In support of the demand for ST status to the Adivasi people, hike in daily wages of tea labourers to Rs 350 per day, land pattas to the Adivasi people in forest area, land to tea labourers under tea ceiling act and other demands, the Sonitpur unit of AASAA on Tuesday observed an hour-long dharna in front of the Circle Office, Dhekiajuli Revenue Circle.

Amarjit Kerketta, president of AASAA Sonitpur district unit said that this government did not understand the democratic language of any organization. The BJP government had promised to solve the problems of Adivasi people before polls but it had betrayed the Adivasi people by not fulfilling its promise after coming to power, he said. The AASAA activists later submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister with their charters of demands through the Circle Officer of Dhekiajuli Revenue Circle, Sabyasachi Kashyap.
