All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union to oppose PRCs to non-Arunachalees

Itanagar: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has said it will continue to oppose the granting of permanent resident certificates (PRC) to non-APSTs residing in Arunachal Pradesh.
Seeking amendment to the State of Arunachal Pradesh Act 1986 under Article 371 (H), the AAPSU, following its federal assembly held at Tezu, the headquarters of Lohit district on Sunday said that it would pursue seeking additional insertion of constitutional provisions such as inclusion of absolute ownership of land, rivers, natural resources, forests, minerals, etc, to protect the indigenous people of the state.
On the refugee and boundary issues of the state, the AAPSU and its federal units demanded creation of a separate department for strict vigilance and monitoring of refugee affairs, and sought cancellation of the APST certificates, jobs, etc, obtained by refugees in Tawang and Bomdila.
It also demanded “immediate establishment of paramilitary camps at Khatan village under Lohit district to check and minimize illegal activities of underground, Chakma and Hajong extremist elements.”
Besides the demand for enactment of a permanent land law for Arunachal Pradesh, the AAPSU sought establishment of police stations at all controversial boundary areas between Arunachal and Assam, and said it would submit a representation to the state government for strict monitoring of “infiltration” through the Dirak check gate in Namsai district. It also took up major road communication issues of the state and informed that it would monitor the highway works to ensure their timely completion as per the guidelines of the road transport & highways ministry.
The AAPSU also demanded continuation of the work on the four-lane highway project in the capital within 10 days, adding that it would exert pressure for continuation of the eviction drive as per the prescribed norms.
