All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union rues Government’s ‘apathy’ towards solving the problems of the Gorkhas

UDALGURI: The BTC regional committee of All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (AAGSU) has decided to organize a districtwise public gathering to aware the people towards the government’s alleged apathy to resolve the problems of Gorkhas in Assam and BTC. An extended executive meeting of BTC regional committee, AAGSU, was held at Gorkha Bhawan in Kokrajhar. All the executives of the four district attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by John Chouhan, the president and purpose of the meeting was explained by Rohit Dahal, the general secretary of BTC regional committee of AAGSU.

The meeting has condemned the State goverment and the BTC ruling party for their apathy towards the problems of Gorkhas in the region. “The BJP did not keep their assurances during the last assembly election,” the AAGSU leaders said.

The BTC government has deprived the Gorkha community people confiscating their land rights and political rights, the organization alleged. The organisation has also expressed their aspersion for not nominating their community member in BTC. The people will give them a fitting reply in the parliamentary election, they added.
