All Assam Koch Rajbongshi Sanmiloni (AAKRS) Demands Probe in August 6 Protests

STAFF REPORTER

GAUWAHATI, Aug 10: The All Assam Koch Rajbongshi Sanmiloni (AAKRS) demanded judicial probe into the incident that took place on August 6 at Chautara railway station, in Kokrajhar district. Notably, during a rail blockade jointly staged by the KRS, Koch Rajbongshi Mohila Sanmiloni, Yuva-Chatra Sanmiloni and All Assam Koch Rajbongshi Students’ Union (AAKRSU), the police lathi-charged upon the agitators which led to several injuries.

In this regard, talking to the reporters here on Friday, AAKRS president Bireswar Saikia alleged that the police officer (s) deployed on the spot ordered brutal lathi-charge upon the agitators without due permission and consent from the judicial magistrate. Informing the reporters that altogether 14 members of the AAKRS and AAKRSU were arrested, besides injuring several during the blockade, Saikia demanded release of the arrested members unconditionally at the earliest. He also demanded judicial probe into the ordeal.
