All Bodo Students’ Union urges Bodo people to unite for their all-round development

UDALGURI: The golden jubilee celebration and 48th annual conference of Udalguri anchalik committee of All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) concluded at Bahinigaon with a three day-long programme. The theme of the celebration was ‘Let us unitedly strive for a clean society’ and the vision was ‘Live, Work and Prosper’. Pramod Boro, while delivering his speech as chief guest, emphasized the aims and objectives of ABSU and urged people to unite for their all-round development. Countering Hagrama Mohilary on the Bodoland issue, he appealed to people to vote for Bodoland and scheduling of Bodos living in Karbi Anglong. Commemorating the great contribution of Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma and Upendranath Brahma, he reiterated his stand for the excellence of Bodo society.

ABSU general secretary Lawrence Islary, while addressing the ABSU workers, said that ABSU had done tremendous work through the years for the uplift of the Bodo community and also the region. He urged the people to cast their vote in favour of ABSU-supported candidates for the greater cause of Bodoland.

Dhiren Boro, the president of NDFB (P), also appealed to people to unite and dedicate their resources for excellence in every sphere. A souvenir Bahinigami Khampha was also published to mark the celebration. The souvenir was edited by Chakradhar Brahma and his team. The magazine was released by Nabin Malla Boro, Sahitya Akademi awardee.

The open session was presided over by Swmdwn Gwra Basumatary, the president of Udalguri anchalik ABSU. The open session was inaugurated by Dr. Luke Daimary, Principal of Udalguri College, and welcome address was delivered by Someswar Wary, the vice-president of the reception committee.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Anjali Daimary, the chairperson of Boro Women Justice Forum, Prodeep Kumar Daimary, the ABSU-supported UPPL MP candidate for Mangaldai Lok Sabha constituency, Bhramon Baglary, the general secretary of UPPL, and other distinguished leaders. The ABSU delegates selected Raju Daimary as president and Mithinga Narzary as general secretary of the Udalguri anchalik committee of ABSU for another term.
