All India Kishan Sabha stages demonstration

Silchar, May 16: Members of the district committee of All India Kishan Sabha have been most vocal in pointing out the issues and concerns of the farmers. In this regard, they staged a demonstration at Unyan Bhawan of this town on Monday. They have also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbanda Sonowal, through the Circle Officer of Cachar. They have alleged that the present state government has turned deaf ears to their pleas and that they have been exploited every now and then. They said that this government has failed to keep its promises and has been ignoring them for a long time.

 The 9-point charter of demands comprise cancellation of increased Khaj amount, curtailment of taxes for land up to 10 bighas, making altertive arrangements for the evicted farmers, provision of land pattas to the farmers who have been residing at a  place for a long time,  right cost of production, construction of Himghar, fixing Rs 300 as daily wage under the MNREGA scheme and assuring 200 days of employment in a year for job card holders and taking right governmental measures to sell off the output items.
