Alleged irregularities in P&RD Department, CM Sonowal orders probe, Asked to submit report at earliest

Guwahati: Following the alleged irregularities regarding the appointment in Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD) Department, the Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal directed the Additional Chief Secretary, Jishnu Baruah on Friday for an immediate probe on the entire matter and submit a report on the same to the Government at the earliest.

It may be mentioned that there have been several reports highlighting the anomalies and irregularities in the appointment of the officials in P&RD Department.

Earlier, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had also submitted a report to the Government of Assam stating about the anomalies in the recruitment examination for the vacant posts in the P&RD Department. The examination was held in May 2018.

The reports also state that according to the CID report, there were plentiful irregularities in 18 examination centres of nine districts. Moreover, around 28 candidates were also expelled for using unfair means at the examination centres.
