Goalpara, Jan 1: Bringing a new ray of hope for the rural cultivators and agricultural farmers of the district at the dawn of the new year, the Goalpara district administration on Friday opened at the town a direct selling point ‘Amar Dukan’ for the vegetables and other agricultural producers.  Arranged by the Agricultural Department, the retail sale shop was iugurated by JVN Subramanyam, Deputy Commissioner, at the municipal market complex, New Market area here. The program was taken under the agricultural product and vegetable magement and marketing unit under which similar market is likely to come up at Balija market under Balija development block. The local customers on Friday were ecstatic to pick up their favorite vegetables at much lower price in comparison to the existing market rate. The rates of the quickly sold vegetables on the opening day were, potato Rs 11 , capsicum Rs 25, both cauliflower and cabbage at Rs 8 , tomato Rs 16 rupees and carrot Rs 8.  “The farmers will not only receive their due price through this system, even the buyers will also purchase the product at lower price,” informed the DC at the event.
