Amit Shah attacks Congress blaming Jawaharlal Nehru for giving PoK portion to Pakistan

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, slamming the Congress party in the Lok Sabha, says that the prime person behind the division of Jammu and Kashmir was Jawaharlal Nehru

Questioning the Congress in Lok Sabha on Friday, Amit Shah said, "who had divided the nation on the basis of religion? One-third of Jammu and Kashmir is not with India. Who is responsible for this?"

Shah also added, "Who called for ceasefire back then? It was Jawaharlal Nehru who did it and gave that portion (PoK) to Pakistan. You say we don't take people into confidence, but Nehru ji did it without taking the then home minister into confidence. So Manish(Tewari) ji don't teach us history."

Shah went to add that while taking an important decision on Kashmir, Nehru did not consider it necessary to take the then Home Minister Sardar Patel’s advice. Shah made these statements while targeting Congress leader Manish Tewari after Tewari asked the government to look into the historical reasons for problems and issues in Kashmir Valley.

The Congress leader had said that Kashmir Valley people feel alienated and hence, he took to blame the BJP’s alliance with the PDP citing that the political party failed in its experiment after 2014 state election.

This evoked quite uproar in the Lok Sabha with the Home Minister Amit Shah taking to responded to the charge. Shah responded that it was the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru who took the wrong decision. Shah further added that Nehru should have been quick and strong in flushing out the infiltrators when Pakistan had sent its intruders in Jammu and Kashmir.

Amit Shah’s direct allegation on the former Prime Minister led the Congress leaders to create quite a chaos in the House. The Congress leaders objected for Shah taking Nehru’s name and for bringing in an instance which is more than 70-year-old. With the situation in the house going out of order, Speaker Om Birla tried to pacify the situation and assured the Congress leaders of a chance to reply to the remarks made by Amit Shah.
