Amitava Mishra takes over as new GM in-charge of AOD

DIGBOI, March 18:  Shillong born and educated in Digboi, Amitava Mishra who joined the then Assam Oil Company, known as AOD currently,  as a mere graduate trainee in 1978 took over as the General Mager in-Charge of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (Assam Oil Division) recently.

Mishra, a Mechanical Engineer from Jorhat Engineering College (JEC), has acquired additiol professiol qualification of proficiency in boiler operation engineering from Assam Boiler Board, Government of Assam.

Mishra had joined Digboi Refinery as a mere Graduate Engineer Trainee (Boiler) in 1978 under the banner of Assam Oil Company. His career graph spans from job assignments ranging from the Power and Utilities, Maintence, Marketing Operations, Marketing Sales, Supply and Distribution and Marketing Projects under Indian Oil Corporation Limited (Assam Oil Division).

He is considered as an expert in TPM (Total Productive Maintence), being the first ever to be entrusted with the responsibility of introduction of TPM in Digboi Refinery way back in 2003. Over the years, he has made significant contribution in the success story of TPM implementation for which Digboi Refinery won the award for ‘Excellence in Consistent TPM Commitment’ from Japan Institute of Plant Maintence (JIPM), Japan in March 2014.

Born in Shillong, Amitava Mishra did his schooling in Digboi, passing out HSLC from AOC Boys’ High School in 1971 and doing his PU in Digboi College in 1972.  He is also an avid sportsperson and is passiote about music.

Talking to The Sentinel, Mishra said that his commitment and undivided attention would be placed on escalating the objectives of the  corporation a step forward in tune with the  domestic and global changing scerio by seeking  support of the entire AOD fraternity, higher authority and other concerned organizations involved in promoting the cause.
