GUWAHATI, April 6: Amlan Mahanta Clinches the title in 22nd Edition of P C Borooah First Sunday Chess tourment held on 5th April, at PC Borooah Chess Academy premises Chandmari, Guwahati. Amlan scored 6 points from 7 rounds to claim the title. Nitish Das and Prachurjya Gayan also scored 6 points each from same number of rounds but declared second and third position respectively on the basis of tie-break score. Bhavishnu Pranti Bordoloi got fourth position by scoring 5.5 points. Homen Rabha and Uddipta kakati also scored 5.5 points and they are placed fifth and sixth position respectively on the basis of tie-break score. Khanindra Barman, aarohan Bharadwa, Kul Kalita and Uddibh mahanta scored 5 points each and placed seventh eighth, ninth and tenth position respectively.
In under 13 category, Debanga Kalita scored 4.5 points and got first position. Neeraj Pratap Hazarika also scored 4.5 points but declared second on the basis of tie-break score. Kaustav Kalita scored 4 points in this category and got third position. In under-11 category Rishita Sinha scored 4.5 points and got first position. Rishabh Singh also scored 4.5 points and got second position on the basis of tie-break score.Priyangshu Bhowmick got third position in this category by scoring 4 points. Abhiv Dubey got first position in under-9 category by scoring 4 points. Anmol Bharadwaj and Aslesha Talukdar also scored 4 points each declared second and third on the basis of their tie-break score. In under 7 category Biwaswan Choudhury got first position by scoring two points.
Altogether 61 players including 19 fide rated player participated in the tourment. The tourment was held in swiss league system for 7 rounds. This tourment is held in First Sunday of every month. Mr. Prab Kumar th conducted the tourment as Chief Arbiter and Kh. Jintu Singh assisted him as deputy arbiter. The next first Sunday tourment will be held in First May of 2015.
