Tezpur, Aug 21: In a bid to reduce the cost of treating the two health issues - cancer and heart diseases that are on the rise in India - the Union Health Ministry has launched the Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants for Treatment (AMRIT) Retail Pharmacy scheme. An AMRIT pharmacy outlet was opened on Monday at Tezpur Kaklata Civil Hospital under the aegis of AMRIT Pharmacy in association with the Government of Assam, and in presence of Krishan Kumar Sarma, ADC, Sonitpur , PP Singh, Superintendent of Police, Sonitpur, Juri Bhattacharjee, Joint Director of Health, Sonitpur, Sanjoy Roy, I/C Superintendent of Tezpur Kaklata Civil Hospital, Sangita Das, District Media Expert, and Atul Kumar Kalita, secretary, IMA, Assam State Branch.
