"An Honour for My Long Journey, Conviction And Belief", says Manoj Bajpayee After Winning Padma Shri

Actor Manoj Bajpayee is feeling joyous as his work has been recognized by the “highest office”. He says getting a Padma Shri is an honor for “your journey and conviction”.

“It’s an enormous honour for any professional because it’s not an honour for only one specific film or performance. It’s an honour for your journey, for your conviction and belief that you simply had,” Manoj Bajpayee said Saturday, every day once being named for the Padma Shri, the country’s fourth highest civilian honour.

“Also, for the government, it’s a way of recognizing the contribution that one has created to cinema. So yes, I'm feeling terribly happy regarding it. My family, friends, and fans have been sending messages to me. I'm feeling joyous that my work has been recognized by the highest office,” he added.

Since his debut in movie industry within the mid-1990s, the National Award-winner has acted in the thought still as indie films. Last year, the Bandit Queen actor featured in seven films - Aiyaary, Baaghi 2, Missing, Satyameva Jayate, Gali Guleiyan, Love Sonia and Bhonsle.

“I have always been terribly careful with my career. I don’t have to be compelled to be further careful after this recognition. I'm Know for the work that I do. So, the similar pattern can prolong...choosing the films that concern me...which are coming from my very own conviction and belief,” said Manoj Bajpayee.

“People who have been watching my performances, my films, are an enormous support. If they're pleased with my filmography and work, I'm proud with what I even have done,” he added. He will be next seen in Sonchiriya, which can hit the screens on March 1. The film is set in the 1970s and focuses on a small town dominated by dacoits.

Meanwhile, singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan said feels humbled and honoured on being chosen for the Padma Shri and has dedicated the country’s fourth highest civilian award to his musical partners Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonsa. “I am humbled and honoured. I feel it's one among the most biggest civilian awards that one can get. Now I even have a responsibility to make good music” he said.

Mahadevan, Ehsaan and Loy have given movie industry several hit tracks for films like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, My Name Is Khan, Lakshya and Mission Kashmir among others.
