Anantnag Terror Attack: Assam CRPF Jawan Nirod Sharma’s Final Rites will be performed with Full Honour at his native place

Ex-Gratia of Rs 20 Lakh Announced by Assam Government

Nalbari: Assam Government on Wednesday announced ex-gratia of Rs 20 lakh to the family members of the martyred Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) ASI Nirod Sharma from Assam who died in South Kashmir’s Anantnag District on Wednesday afternoon.

Around Five CRPF personnel, including two officers, who were deployed on picketing duty, were killed in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district when terrorists attacked them while they were checking vehicles.

The other deceased CRPF personnel has been identified as ASIs Nirod Sarma and Ramesh Kumar and Constables Satendra Kumar, Mahesh Kushwaha and Sandeep Yadav.

It is to be noted that this has been the first terror attack on CRPF after the February 14 suicide bombing in Pulwama in which the paramilitary force had suffered casualties.

116 No CRPF Battalion (Bravo Company) ASI from Assam Nirod Sharma had to serve for the nation for last 27 years. He joined CRPF in the year 1991 and was posted in Jammu and Kashmir 10 years back.

Martyred Jawan Nirod Sharma was the resident of Dahakauniya in Barama under Nalbari District, he got married to Jonali Devi of Tihu in the year 2004.

His two daughters namely Dikshita and Himangi are the students of Shankardev Shishu Niketan in Barama.

The final rites of the martyred CRPF jawan Nirod Sharma will be performed at his native place with full honor, informed the Deputy Commissioner of Nalbari District.

A lesser-known terror outfit, Al Umar Mujahedeen, had claimed responsibility for the Anantnag Terror attack earlier on Wednesday.

One terrorist was killed by security forces personnel and an AK series assault rifle was recovered from his possession.

Sources further informed that terrorists on a motorcycle attacked a patrol party of the CRPF on the busy KP Road in Anantnag with automatic rifles. They also hurled grenades at the patrol team.

Five CRPF personnel have been killed and three others injured have been evacuated to the 92 base hospital.

The Station House Officer of Anantnag Police Station, Arshad Ahmed, was also injured in the sensational terror attack after Pulwama-Terror Attack. The official was immediately shifted to Srinagar for better medical care.
