Anjaw can be model district: DC

Itagar, Mar 31: Prospect of strategically important Anjaw district bordering Chi finds much stride under the administration of Deputy Commissioner Nyabin Ete who, recently joined as a the new incumbent replacing D Kamduk.

Ete a simple and down to earth persolity ushers a positive perspective to bring the district into the track of development in spite of its tough geographical landscape.

Talking to this reporter, the DC vowed to complete the prerequisite facilities first which includes the most needed police station, treasury and internet connectivity for the smooth functioning of the district.

“Landline Telephone services are already made functiol, election office has also been shifted from Hayuliang to Hawai, headquarter of the district due to which the administration was facing difficulty as the officials had to come down to Tezu to get the work done”, the DC expresses.

“The district has tremendous scope to develop into a model district owing to its bountiful of hydro power, horticulture and agriculture and tourism potential. The only Mishmi tribe with population of 4000 to 5000 is a peace loving tribe having least recorded crimes. The district has ample of prospects to stride out in every front,” added Ete.

Expressing annoyance overopium cultivation in Anjaw valley, the DC made earnest pleas to the tribe in every meeting and interaction to dissuade from illegal practices.

Citing good precedence of bumper harvest of large cardamom in last season where approximately Rs 60 crore was earned in the district.

Each farmer, right from small to large holdings was profited and good signs were seen of replacing rampant opium cultivation.

“Of late Spice Board has toured the district and I have requested the board to made seeds of better breed for seasol vegetables available to keep the local farmers engaged. And to make comprehensive coverage of toilet in each and every household under ‘Mission Swatch Bharat’, I have instructed the PHE department to complete the task within 2 years owing to toughness of terrain” the DC disclosed.

While prioritizing surface communication,  Ete added that tiol highway double lane specification under district connectivity road sponsored by Ministry of Road Transport and Highway, government of India would start soon as property assessment from Hayuliang to Hawai has been already completed.

He further assured all possible efforts to revamp the dismal road scerio of border district in proper coordition with Border Road Organization.
