Ankita wins double gold in tennis

GUWAHATI, Feb 10: India bagged three gold medals in tennis event of the 12th South Asian Games at Chachal tennis complex here today. Hosts bagged gold medal in women’s singles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles events. It was all India show in all three fils. Ankita Rai beat Prer Bhambri in a one sided game 6-1 6-0 in the women’s singles. In the men’s doubles, Ramkumar Ramathan and Vijay Prasanth won their fil tie against Divij Sharan and Sam Singh 6-3 6-4. The third gold medal came in the mixed doubles event. Ankita bagged her second gold pairing with Divij Sharan. The duo defeated Sam Singh and Prartha Thombre 6-2, 7-6 (3).
Meanwhile, Saketh Myneni of India entered into the fil in men’s single event defeating Aisam Ul Haq Quereshi of Pakistan by 6-2, 6-1. Saketh will face Ramkumar Ramathan in the fil. In the other last four game Ramkumar fought hard to beat Shamal Dissayake 6-4, 7-5.
