Annual general meeting of Jorhat Press Club held

JORHAT, Oct 19: The annual general meeting of the Jorhat Press Club was held at the club conference hall with a day-long programme on Wednesday. Coinciding with Kati Bihu, the traditiol lamp was lit by Prafulla Rajguru and Dr. Tapan Dutta in presence of the members of the Jorhat Press Club. The conference was presided over by senior jourlist Diganta Buragohain, who is the president of the club, while Rajiv Bora, the secretary, and Sanjib Dutta, joint secretary, highlighted the club’s achievements and objectives.

During the conference, the issue of a non-jourlist maging to get jourlist’s pension was discussed. It was alleged that the non-jourlist could do so with the help of some members of the press club. There were four retired jourlists who had made a lot of contribution in the field of jourlism and deserved to get the jourlist’s pension. The secretary of Jorhat Press Club, Rajib Bora was more or less blamed for this.

The old committee was dissolved and a new committee was elected with Niranjan Mahanta as the president, Pramud Kumar Singh as working president, Amrit Biraj Dutta as vice-president, Anta rayan Borthakur as general secretary, Bijoy Handique and Pranjal Ripu Kumar as joint secretaries.
