Anomalies alleged in Sivasagar Municipal Board contract allotment

Joysagar: Major anomalies have been alleged in the allotment process of many contracts by the Sivasagar Municipal Board. Hundreds of local educated unemployed youths have made this allegation against the Sivasagar Municipal Board authorities and revealed that during the allotment process of the construction of as many as 26 roads, lanes and by-lanes of Sivasagar town under SMB fund of about Rs 3 crore, the SMB authorities had allegedly violated all rules.

The authorities allegedly sanctioned work orders to some selected contractors, thereby depriving eligible youths. The deprived youths alleged that the SMB authorities concluded the tendering and contract allotment process in just a day. They said that this was all drama as there already had been some sort of understanding between the SMB authorities and some select contractors. This latest allegation of corruption by SMB authorities has created mixed reactions among people of the town.
