JOYSAGAR, July 16: Anomalies have been alleged in the Dikhow river embankment construction work near Amgurighat of Sivasagar. On Monday, hundreds of local people came out and staged a protest against the contractor as well as against the District Water Resources Department engineers near the Dikhow Bridge. The Dikhow River embankment construction work started in February this year and for this about Rs 35 lakh was sanctioned by ONGC, Sivasagar as part of its CSR activities. But local people alleged poor quality work and already about 700 metres of the embankment have been damaged. Local people therefore, took to the streets to protest against the alleged corruption in the name of flood-control measures.
