Anomalies in allotment of IAY house in Tapang block

Silchar, May 5: Once she had been allotted a home through Indira Awas Yoja (IAY), in which she lived and breathed her last. The person, late Saraswati Devi of Tapang development block, has again been allotted IAY in the current year. The incident happened in the Indragarh GP. In the same way a resident of Khasiyapunji, Shanti Rymbai, has again been allotted the Yoja. Such incidents have become common place along with the usage of excavator machines for earth-filling works sanctioned under MGNREGS. Due to which the job-card holders are not getting any work. Allegations have come to light of such misdemeanors happening in Indragarh GP.

 Resident of the area, Ashim Das, Parameshwar Das have said such corrupt practices are happening by the encouragement of the GP president Kajal Roy. Meanwhile, the former GP president Gyabala Dashas expressed her deep anguish over the corrupt practices happening in the Indragarh GP. She said the poor villagers now have to give bribes to get IAY allotment. Why no inquiry has yet been initiated against the officials who are involved in such rampant corruption. She also said that the late Saraswati Devi was a close relative of hers and had died on December 8, 2014. She also asked how the Yoja could be allotted in the me of a dead person. The Former GP president demanded an inquiry into the issue.
