Anomalies in distribution of rice, two held

Tezpur, May 7: The secretary of Panbari Samabai Samittee and one businessman of Senimari village in Dhekiajuli town in Sonitpur district were arrested on Friday on charges of misappropriating food grains allotted for the beneficiaries under Food Security Act (FSA). According to sources, the two accused mely Sunil Das (secretary of Panbari Samabai Samittee) and Bappi Dev th (businessman) illegally stocked a total of 33 bags of food grains (rice) in a room of a club. They planned to sell the illegal food grains in the black market. However, on receiving the information, the local people informed the circle officer of Dhekiajuli revenue circle which later with the help of police arrested the duo and recovered the food grains under IPC 406 and No-7 (section W) of Essential Commodity Act. They were on Saturday produced in the Tezpur court and sent to police custody.
