SHILLONG, May 30: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council-Central Executive Council (HYC-CEC) in a meeting with acting Syiem, Hima Mylliem on Monday, demanded that the Myntris involved in handing over land at Mawpat (Law Syiem) to various church bodies should be stripped from their position as Myntris because of their involvement in anomalies in the land acquisition.

“Myntri Langstieh, Myntri Kharbuki and Myntri Kharlukhi have handed the land belonging to the Hima without any maintence of cash records and this clearly shows that there were massive anomalies in the process. So the Myntris should be removed from their position,” Robert Kharjahrin, general secretary, HYC-CEC, told newsmen after the meeting with acting Syiem, Hima Mylliem Ricky Nelson Syiem.

He said the acting Syiem has told them that an inquiry on the matter is in progress and if any of the Myntris are found to have used illegal methods in the land dealings at Mawpat, the Hima will take serious action.

The HYC-CEC has also demanded the immediate removal of non-Khasis from the police force of Hima Mylliem.

“There are many people who are not Khasi but they are getting jobs in the police force of Hima Mylliem and this has brought shame to the Hima. We have demanded that the Hima should remove them immediately,” he said adding that the Hima should also increase the number of police personnel to tackle the increasing growth of the Hima.

The HYC-CEC have also suggested that the Hima should issue a notification directing all the people at Them Metor and Paltan Bazar, in Shillong as those area are non-residential areas.

“The Acting Syiem has informed us that according to the map of Iewduh, these two areas fall under the jurisdiction of the Hima and he has assured that soon the Hima will hold an Executive Committee meeting to discuss the matter,” he said.

He said the Hima should also stop to the issuing trade license and NOC to outsiders without the knowledge of the Dorbar.
