Anomalies in MGNREGA job cards at Boko alleged

Boko, Jan 7: Massive anomalies have come to light in the job cards in the Centre’s flagship programme the Mahatma Gandhi tiol Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) at Bongaon Development Block here.

The irregularities have come to light in an RTI reply provided by the Block Development Officer of Bongaon Development Block. The information under RTI was sought by a Boko based NGO.

According to the information provided by the BDO under RTI, one Dhiren Mali has holding card no AS-07-001-011/1386 and he and his family members were provided employment for 11 days (Household provided Employment in the fincial year 2014-2015) and as per work allocation report 2014-2015 the holder of card no AS-07-001-011/1386, Dhiren Mali was  allotted work from February 8 to 13, from February 17 to 22 and from February 28 to 31 in 2015.

On the other hand, Sabitri Mali was allotted work from February 8 to 13 and from February 17 to 22 for construction of road under Indira Gandhi Adarsha Paki Path scheme.

Dhiren Mali, when contacted, however, told that Sabitri Mali is not a member of his family and he has never done any job against any job card.

But in his account an amount was deposited without his knowledge and next day a group of youth demanded 90% of that amount.

They said to him that he needs to pay the amount as he did not do any work under the scheme.

In another case, as per record one Anil Das has a job card (no AS-07-009-011/1625) and he and his family member were provided employment for 30 days in the fincial year 2014-15.

But as per Anil Das, he and his family member had never done any work for single day.

Moreover, as per work allocation report Madhabi Das, wife of Anil Das, was allotted work (work allotted report 2014-15) from February 14 to 19, from February 20 to 25 and from March 22 to 27 in 2015.

But during that period, Madhabi Das, wife of Anil Das, was fallen down in her house and broken her hand, so her husband had cooked for the family. So, it was not possible that she could do work against job card. But as per Anil Das, an amount was deposited in his account and a group of youth claimed 90% of that amount.

When contacted, the (BDO) of Bongaon Development Block, expressed ignorance about the irregularities.
