Itagar, April 2: The All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) today condemned the statement made by the Home and Power (Electrical) Minister Tanga Byaling terming all the unions as extortionist. “Byaling’s unwanted and immature statement has completely hurt the sentiment of all the unions, associations and organizations who have been working tirelessly for the common cause related to Pre Paid Energy Meter (PPEM) in the state,” union president Byabang Joram and general secretary Nyanya Gollo said in a joint statement here.

“ANSU feels his statement is a cheap generalization to misguide the general public and if the statement is true, we asked him to give us the me of the unions, associations, and organizations that have resorted to extortion,” the statement said. “The Home Minister has no moral right to bring down the image, prestige, position, discipliry level and intellectual position of the whole populace of the state by given such cheap publicity,” the ANSU leaders said.

“By seeing his attitude, dictatorship and immature ture of governing, it is clearly seen that he is not fit to hold such a highly responsible and respectable post like. He should know why many unions, associations and organizations are forming in state. It is because of corruption in the state more unions and association are forming in order to safeguard their interest and to accomplish common goals,” they added. “Law and order of state is deteriorating day by day under the inefficient leadership of the home minister. Recently 10-year-old school boy of Government Middle School here, was murder but home minister could not settled the case, three crimils are missing for long time due to security lapse, many professiol extortionist are threatening officers, two women of Dollugmukh were arrested by Assam police and forest officials, one of the Assistant Professor of Don Bosco college was murdered and interestingly someone has easily forged the sigture of the chief minister to get contract work, all under the reign of Tanga Byaling,” they alleged

“These incidents clearly shows that the HM is inefficient and ineffective to handle law and order situation in the state and instead of improving the situation he is busy in issuing immature statement against unions and associations,” lamented the duo.

“Regarding electric pre-paid metering he has termed ANSU’s movement against PPEM as politically motivated and in this regards we would like to clarify that the minister is misguiding the public. Allegation leveled by him is nothing but only a cheap intention and ill hearted to tarnish the image of ANSU before public by using his power and position,” they added.

“First of all we are not politically motivated and secondly, no political parties have instigated us to take up prepaid energy metering issue and in this connection if the HM has any evidence against ANSU, we dare him to make it public. This particular scheme is anti-people and anti-poor scheme as the poor general public would suffer the most and this is the only the reason ANSU has been rigorously fighting against the installation of PPEM,” they added.

“It is a great surprise to see the minister is adamant to implement systems in the state capital despite many hue and cries from all the section of society. Is he getting any benefits out of this scheme? Are his kids and kins getting any benefits out of it? If not then why is the HM trying to implement such system despite of people opposing it?” they questioned.

Stating that the ANSU is determined to fight against the installation of PPEM system till the demand is met, the leaders made it clear that the union would not allow the state government to implement such anti-people scheme which has negative socio-economic impact to the common people of the state. They also demand the resigtion of Byaling from the council of ministers if the PPEM is not withdrawn. Meanwhile the Aruchal Youth Organization (AYO) has also termed the statement made by the Byaling as unfortute and shocking, stating that the youths and students are the future of the state and the issues they raise are for the benefits of the public rather than for a minister or authority.

The AYO has further demanded the minister to immediately apologize and withdraw his statement and step-down from the post on moral grounds.
