According to the sources, the sleuths on Thursday morning arrived in Nagaon and visited various places in the district where Hussain allegedly bought land and other assets or commercial establishments in the district. The sources, however, on Friday intimated to local media persons that the sleuths visited several areas in the greater Samaguri constituency where the former minister allegedly procured immovable assets like petrol pump, hotel and the like either in his name or in the names of some of his close relatives and others. Earlier, on Thursday, the sleuths visited some areas at Aminpatty, a site near Dara bus stand and commercial establishments like BATA show room at Daccapatty in Nagaon town.

The sleuths also visited Nagaon and Samaguri circles offices and took feedback from the circle officers as well as the lat-modals of the both circles. The sleuths also visited some commercial establishments like petrol pump and hotel at the Amoni area. Interestingly, the sleuths were tight-lipped about their probe asked the local journalists to wait till the competition of the enquiry.

Interestingly, CM’s vigilance and anti-corruption team started the enquiry after former senior Congress leader Anil Raja lodged an FIR in CM’s vigilance cell about disproportionate assets being allegedly owned by Hussain. On the other hand, former Congress minister Rokibul Hussain on Thursday evening at around 7:30pm addressed a press meet at Nagaon Rajib Bhavan and said that it was nothing but a big pre-planned conspiracy against him and behind the enquiry a powerful group of people was involved. “But the time will come for us also”, he added further.  He stated further that he would co-operate with the sleuths if asked for. “But the sleuths haven’t issued any information about the movement or enquiry and a particular TV channel of the State focused the details before it was ascertained,” Hussain said, adding that an attempt was on to stain his fame. He further stated that with the people behind him, he was not worried about the enquiry.
