Anti-drug abuse day observed

GUWAHATI, June 27: The Border Security Force headquarters of Guwahati, in collaboration with the Zol Office of rcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Guwahati and St. Claret School, Borjhar observed the Intertiol Day against Drugs Abuse & Illicit Trafficking today at Patgaon on the city outskirts, a press release said.

The program was iugurated by Dr B J Lalwani, MS, DIG (Med), CH, CAPF Patgaon in the presence of officers from BSF and NCB. Besides, BSF personnel, their families and about 70 students of class XII of St Claret School, Borjhar along with three teacher-in-charges also participated in the programme.

Suresh Kr Singh of NCB gave a detailed presentation on “Drugs, Their Classification and Identification”. He also made the children aware about the ill-effects of this mece and spread awareness amongst them to keep themselves away from this habit. The audience especially the children of St Claret School, Borjhar took active part in the interactive programme and clarified several doubts regarding dugs and drugs abuse by asking very relevant questions from the faculty of NCB.

The audience was also addressed by A K Singh, DIG/PSO, BSF, Guwahati Frontier.

During the closing address, he highlighted the ill-effects of drug abuse and urged upon the parents, teachers, students and BSF personnel to refrain from use of any rcotics items, as this will not only ruin one’s persol life but also cause irreparable damage to reputation of their parents in the society and teachers.
