Anundoram Barooah award given away to students

KOKRAJHAR, February 5: In Chirang district, a total of 468 students who secured first division in the last HSLC and AHM examitions, 2015 were presented laptops today under the Anundoram Borooah Award scheme instituted by the Government of Assam.

The award presentation ceremony was organized at the Auditorium Hall of Dhaligaon High School in the presence of Chirang Deputy Commissioner Rupak Kr. Mazumdar, Ex-MLA Matindra Basumatary, Assistant Commissioner Jitu Kr. Barman, Inspector of Schools Jaypalsing Brahma, DIPRO Gagan rzary and officials of District Academic Council, Chirang.

The Chirang DC Rupak Kr. Mazumdar presided over the programme and ceremonially gave away the laptops to 20 students. He urged the students to be more sincere for securing the top position in the fil examitions as the education scerio of the district is still to be improved in compare to other districts.

He also called upon the teachers to dedicate themselves for the cause of the education. Mazumdar appreciated the government for introducing such schemes to encourage students.

In his speech, Ex- MLA Matindra Basumatary called upon the students to use the laptops in good purpose especially in their studies. The encouraging speeches of the students with special need Jash rzary, fincially backward Pison Basumatary and highest mark holder in the district Ashifa Begum  attracted and inspired the  gathering much. Earlier, the Inspector of Schools Jaypalsing Brahma explained the purpose of the programme with a brief life history of Anundoram Borooah.

It is also to be stated that tomorrow at the same place the 486 second division holders who got above fifty percent marks in the last HSLC and AHM examitions would also be given tablet PCs under the Chief Minister’s Special Award scheme.
