Itagar, JulY 19: The Aruchal Pradesh Congress Committee has announced an agitation programme to protest the state government’s indifference to the demand to remove Satya Gopal as the state’s chief secretary in-charge. The party has called a dawn-to-dusk bandh on July 21 in the first phase of agitation against the “inordite delay” in releasing Gopal after his alleged miscommunication with the Election Commission that led to the deferment of the July 29 by-poll to the Pakke-Kessang assembly constituency on “irrelevant grounds”. The APCC requested the law-enforcing authorities to ensure peace and tranquillity during the bandh so that anti-social elements do not sabotage the agitation in the me of the party. It also appealed to the people to cooperate. The party has exempted police personnel, paramilitary force, magistrates on duty, press, ambulance, fire brigade, milk van, water tanker and all other essential services from the purview of the bandh.
