Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) castigates BJP Government

Itanagar, July 13: Expressing concern over the rape of a seven-year old girl at Mebo Circle in East Siang District, the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today criticized the state government for deterioration in law and order situation and demanded for justice of the victim.

The party in a statement alleged that the ruling BJP government is locked in an unreasonable war words over Trans Arunachal Highway compensation issue with APCC whereas violent crime against minor girls and women is increasing in the state. “The Pema Khandu-led BJP government is not serious on these matters and also not working for the interest of people of the state. Under the reign of Khandu, the state has become ‘Balatkari Pradesh’, the party alleged.It said that the state government has maintained stoic silence over continuous occurrence of such criminal activities in the past four years and even the victims were not compensated and criminals were not punished. “Since the inception of BJP government, the state has been boiling with anti-social elements and also there is growth of rape cases, mob lynching, gun culture, which indicates that the present government is shielding the culprits and rejoicing over the misery of people,” the party alleged in the statement.

The party also alleged that the state government had never promptly acted and commented against reported untoward incidents.

One Bukyang Yirang (45) of Ngopok village under Mebo police outpost in East Siang district has been arrested for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl child on Tuesday. Police said the accused committed the crime when the minor was alone watching TV at her home on Tuesdaymorning. The parents, who were out in their paddy field at the time of the incident, were told about the incident by their daughter.
