APLS to hold poets' meet at Book Fair

Itagar, March 30: To add intellectual flavour to the ongoing Itagar book fair at Indira Gandhi Park here, the Aruchal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) will hold the multi-lingual  poets’ meet at the venue at 4 pm on April 3 next. Sahitya Academy awardee Y D Thongchi said that the APLS, headed by him since its birth at his initiative, has been serving as a platform to give exposure to state’s budding writers and creative artists besides sending them to various tiol events to represent the state. Rajiv Gandhi University Hindi associate professor Jamu Binny, noted multi-lingual writer Kaling Borang and prominent Assamese writer Ajanta, all active APLS members, have won laurels for the state at regiol and tiol events. Hundreds of school and college students encouraged by the APLS have been taking part in its monthly sittings with their self-composed poems or written short stories. APLS general secretary Tokong Pertin lauded the tiol Book Trust for holding the annual book fair, which will encourage the reading habit among the youths and help them incline towards the present knowledge era.
