APLS wants annual NBT book fair

Itagar, April 5: With a vision to inculcate reading habits and hone literary skills among Aruchalees, Aruchal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) headed by its General Secretary Tokong Pertin, presented an invitation to the Itagar book fair organizers, tiol Book Trust (NBT) to make it into an annual event seeing the overwhelming response of the public While congratulating NBT for organizing a successful book fair, Pertin said that people from all walks of life have attended it, especially children. “Since its inception in 2006, APLS has been instrumental in promoting upcoming writers and poets in the state and giving them a wider platform  and APLS had also organized a multilingual poets meet in the venue which was highly appreciated by all the participants,” informed Pertin. APLS further requested NBT to conduct the fair during the celebration of “Festival of Aruchal” to coincide with Statehood day on 20th of February, for which the society reiterated its willingness to coordite and help with any necessary liaisons. “We are ready to conduct events ranging from poetry recitation, book reviews, story writing and various other literary activities. It will be then not just a book selling affair, but a literary event rolled into one”, added Pertin who was accompanied by fellow APLS member Batem Pertin, and Director of Research.  As yet, the fair has been organized on a rotation basis in the North East region so accepting the invitation, NBT representative Rajesh Kumar assured of the best possible outcome.
