APSC Cash-For-Job Scam: DGP hints at more heads rolling

Cash-for-job scam

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Sept 23: State DGP Kuladhar Saikia has dropped enough hints that more heads, including some big ones, are set to roll in the cash-for-job scam in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC).

Talking to the media in Guwahati on Sunday, the police chief said: “This is just a part charge-sheet. More such charge-sheets are to follow, if necessary. If we get evidence of involvement of any more, they’ll be brought under the purview of the investigation.”

The hint from the DGP bears significance since this statement came close on the heels of the investigating officer making a mention in his report that two of the accused in the scam had handed over Rs 1 crore to the wife of a judicial officer for favourable bail orders to some of the accused in the scam.

The report has made it crystal clear that accused Surajit Chudhury did collect cash from the guardians of some of the accused in the scam for bribing a judicial officer for favourable bail orders. Choudhury handed over Rs 1 crore to advocate Sailendra Kumar Sarma Baruah to be handed over to the judicial officer. The report has also made it clear that the amount was handed over to the wife of the judicial officer at Udalguri.
