APSCW, APSCPCR laud WASE

FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT

ITAGAR, Jan 10: The Aruchal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) & Aruchal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) has lauded Joya Taung Moyong and her members of Women Against Social Evils (WASE) of East Siang district who along with the district administration recently rescued an eight year old girl working as a domestic helper in the house of one Talom Taloh of Mirsam.

“It is very painful to see the inhuman and barbaric atrocity meted out to the minor child. Every child has the right to live with dignity and needs to be protected from all kinds of atrocities. The Commission condemns such act in strongest words and requests all the District Administration and NGOs to act promptly and should not spare such person,” a statement from APSCW member Secretary Yame Higio said.

“The Commission has spoken with the SP In-charge of East Siang and has appealed to take stern action against the culprit and not to let the accused get bail. It has also requested the SP to b the culprits involved in committing such crime and book them under relevant sections of the law, at the earliest,” she added.

Informing that APSCW has been given an additiol charge to function as the APSCPCR by the state Government in the year 2013 for the protection of the child rights and children’s court for providing speedy trial of offences against children or of violation of child rights, the Commission further has requested the citizens of the state to report crime being committed against children to concerned district administration, District Child Welfare Committee or the Labour office.

“One may also call 1098 Child Help Line (in case of Capital Complex), the concerned police station, APSCPCR or any NGOs working for the cause of the protection of child rights,” Higio appealed.
