Army clarifies on Hayalung incident
GUWAHATI, May 17: With reference to the news, “Jawans Rage, Army Top Brass Scotches Mutiny Rumors”, appeared in The Sentinel on May 16, the Army in a statement today clarified that the me of the infantry unit (JAK LI) as reported by this newspaper is not correct. The Sentinel in its May 16 edition reported that agitated jawans of Army’s J & K Light Infantry unit attacked seniors leaving at least five officers seriously injured following the death of a soldier at Hayalung in Aruchal Pradesh. The Army further stated that the incident did not occur in a high altitude area as reported by The Sentinel.
