Army conducts voluntary blood dotion camp

SHILLONG, Jan 10: More than fifty army personnel led by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) doted blood today at a voluntary blood dotion camp organized by Military Hospital Shillong, in collaboration with Blood Bank NEIGRIHMS. The voluntary blood dotion camp was iugurated by Lieutent General SP wathe, GOC 101 Area and Brigadier GS Joshi, Brig (Medical). “The camp was held to commemorate the Army Day 2016 and also in view of the serious scarcity of blood donors in the region,” Group Captain Amit Mahajan said in a statement here adding that this camp also rededicated the commitment of the Army towards the furtherance of the humanitarian cause. The Blood Transfusion Team also conducted blood collection, screening and storage, Mahajan said adding that the Voluntary blood dotion by Army personnel is yet a step which will go a long way in saving lives of the people of Meghalaya.
