Army continues intensified operation against NDFB (S)

MANGALDAI/KOKRAJHAR, April 24: Based on specific intelligence and electronic input, including mobile intercepts about location and movement of self-styled vice-president of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit), G Bidai along with other cadres, the Army has launched a massive operation in areas of Labdanguri enclave and Manas National Park in Baksa district in BTAD.

This is the first time in the recent past that Army has employed hundreds of troops in various groups with high technology equipment along with helicopters for search and elimination of G Bidai and his group members. Army has already carried out combing operations in Maina Mata Pathar, Majar Kuchi, Katajhar, Athkari and Achigur area. At the same time, the Army has been taking precautionary measure for the safety and security of the innocent villagers of the locality.

Meanwhile, the operations against the anti-talk faction of the NDFB led by B. Saoraigwra by the Sikh Light Regiment of the army and SSB continued in Chirang and Ripu reserve forest in Chirang and Kokrajhar districts to nab G. Bidai and M. Batha.

Sources said the operations were started on Monday morning in Chirang-Ripu reserve forest in Chirang district to nab the NDFB (S) leader M. Batha who is reportedly hiding in the jungle along the Indo-Bhutan border. Over 400 army jawans, including SSB, have been engaged in the operation against NDFB (S) in Chirang-Ripu reserve forest while around 1,000 jawans have been engaged in Manas National Park.
