Army dedicates two toilet blocks to school at Mangaldai

MANGALDAI: The United Nations Organization, with a view to inspire the initiative to tackle the global sanitation crisis, in 2013 declared November 19 as ‘World Toilet Day’. Earlier in 2001, the World Toilet Organization initiated the celebration of ‘World Toilet Day’ on this day.

Synchronizing with the celebration of this day, the Red Horns Gunners under Operation Sadbhavana on Monday dedicated two well-constructed toilet blocks at Binova LP School at Ward No. 7 near Chapai under Mangaldai Municipality Board. The school is one of the pioneer institutions for primary education founded way back in 1899. The troops of Red Horns Division also constructed a well spacious bicycle stand with 120 capacity and gifted the school with kids gym set, play equipment and drinking water facility at the estimated cost of Rs 10 lakh.

Commanding Officer of Red Horns Unit, Colonel Animesh Jha, in presence of Subdivisional Medical and Health Officer Dr Nirmal Beria, dedicated the toilet block and bicycle stand to the students and the teaching staff ceremonially in a well arranged function. The younger students also added more colour to function with their melodious performance of patriotic song. A number of guardians, leading citizens and media persons also attended the function.
