SHILLONG, March 19: Infuriated elected members of the All Regiol Party Alliance (ARPA) in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) marched in full strength to the Raj Bhawan here on Thursday and sought the Governor’s intervention into the alleged unconstitutiol recommendation of the state government to imposition of Governor’s rule in the KHADC.

ARPA members led by its new leader met the Governor K.N Tripathi to brief about the developments in the Council and the unwarranted call made y the government on Wednesday. The delegation of ARPA MDCs also submitted a representation that termed the recommendation for imposition of administrator’s rule as shocking.

“All relevant information pertaining to the majority enjoyed by ARPA had been communicated to the Minister of District Council Affairs (DCA) on March 11, 2015,” stated the representation submitted on Thursday while castigating the Congress led government of taking unconstitutiol steps to stifle and crush the mandate enjoyed by the ARPA in the thirty member house.

The first instance cited by the ARPA before the Governor is on the arbitrary nomition of a member to the lone constitutiol nomited seat where a congress member has been chosen instead of waiting for the recommendation from the ruling bench. The second being the alleged partisan role of the congress led government in dealing with the power struggle in the KHADC.

Urging the state governor to intervene to ensure fair play and justice, the ARPA leaders requested Tripathi to convene a special session for the test of strength.  ARPA leaders told newsmen that the alliance has 16 members in the 30 member house with Metbah Lyngdoh as the new Parliamentary Party Leader.
