Dibrugarh: A two-day workshop titled ‘Journalism and Mass Communication’ was held under the aegis of ICGC of DHSK College and Students’ Union in the premises of DHSK College on March 16 and March 17.

At the inaugural event of the event, Deputy General Manager of OIL, Duliajan, Tridip Hazarika, in his address, said that the art of journalism had undergone a paradigm shift over the years. Conventional journalism was replaced by change-oriented journalism, he held. As a result, the journalists must be aware of such structural changes, and accordingly go about the profession keeping pace with the changes. Before presenting any piece of information to the public, a journalist ought to do the required amount of study on the topic and collect adequate knowledge, he asserted.

Senior journalist Ikbal Ahmed highlighted the responsibilities and duties of a journalist. He urged upon the journalists to extend their services in the interest of the society and country at large. Journalists Palashi Das and Syed Rafiul Aftaar Hussain spoke about the perception and evolution of journalism. The event was presided over by Principal of DHSK College, Dr. Sashikanta Saikia.
