Aruchal gets first Govt Engg College

Itagar, April 2: The deck has been cleared for establishment of the first government engineering college in Aruchal Pradesh with the union HRD ministry has approved establishment of the college at Toru in Papum Pare district to help provide technical education at the people’s doorsteps. The ministry in a communiqué informed the state government about the establishment of the college besides sanctioning for upgradation of Dera tung College here, and Jawaharlal Nehru College, Pasighat to model degree colleges under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), state Education Minister Tapang Taloh informed in a statement today. “The first installment of the grants has already been earmarked by the ministry,” Taloh said. “Establishing a government engineering college in the state has been a long felt demand of people and I am glad that our efforts bore fruits,” Taloh informed in the statement and hoped that the upcoming institute would cater to the technical educatiol needs of the students of all categories. “Thousands of students from the state go out of the state every year for pursuing higher and technical education which involves huge expenditure”, the education minister said adding, “The new engineering college will not only facilitate the students to get engineering degrees with meager fincial involvement but also reduce economic burdens of poor parents.” The foundation stone for the college would be laid by Chief Minister bam Tuki at Toru on April 15 next.
