Aruchal police crackdown on drug peddlers

Itagar, June 21: Nine drug peddlers in four different cases were arrested by Changlang district police.

Four peddlers mely, Md. Giya Uddin, 50 of Dhubri, Assam with six numbers of liquid Opium, 10 grams of Ganja, Satya Roy, 35, from Basantpur, Assam with 20 grams of liquid Opium and two kgs of Ganja, Chamlong Matcha, 26, from Saching village of Changlang and Rang Ran Wangpan, 45, from Chasa village of Tirap District were arrested by Changlang Police from Kengkhu village in a raid on June 16.

In another case, Kharsang police arrested a drug peddler mely Amika Devi, 45 on June 15 in a raid against the drug trafficking in the area. A total of 23 numbers of 2.7 Kgs Ganja Puriya and PIRA were confiscated during the arrest. The raid was conducted under the supervision of OC, PS, Kharsang, K M Das and SI, T Tayeng.

On June 17, Bordumsa Police arrested two drug peddlers- Siha mchoom, 35, from Nongtow-I village along with one Tarun Bhumich, 27, both from msai District in a checking conducted under the supervision of SI, R Borang and SI, R K Yein. 100 grams of Black Opium (Dhela Khani) were found hidden inside the sound box of the car (Registration number AR-01A-3391).

Further on June 18, Diyun Police arrested two persons – Chow Ongkia Laphai and Taseng Munglang with suspected Brown Sugar in their possession. Regular crimil cases have been registered for all the arrests and further investigations are going on.

Changlang Police is keeping a constant vigil to curb drug trafficking and check the movement of antisocial elements in the district, stated an official release.
