Arunachal CM Pema Khandu inaugurated Nyishi Indigenous Art and Cultural Hall in Itanagar

Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu today inaugurated the Nyishi Indigenous Art and Cultural Hall in the presence of Hayuliang MLA Dasanglu Pul, Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso, Minister for Dept. of Indigenous Affairs Nabam Rebia and other dignitaries. Besides, CM Khandu inaugurated the 100 KVA distribution transformer sub-station and high mast light at Nyedar Namlo.

CM Pema Khandu in his address paid rich tribute to former CM late Kalikho Pul for his invaluable contribution to the Art and Cultural Hall. Khandu assured full support of the Govt. for further building of Nyishi archives cum Community Hall at the academic block under Nyedar Namlo premises. He further promised to provide funds for the construction of necessary RCC protection walls for the preservation of building premises from landslides.

While speaking on cultural preservation CM Pema Khandu said the root of culture consists in language preservation and exhorted everyone to put emphasis on this subject.

According to him the Govt. is adopting all necessary steps for preservation of language as well as supporting the community by imposing local tribal languages as the third language in govt. schools. He moreover assured that his Govt. is always ready to support community-based organisations on their striving to language preservation.

The CM said the most important thing is that the children must be able to absorb the local culture and language in their day to day life, which is according to him, is more essential than the standard of education. CM Khandu again emphasized the role of women in culture preservation by saying that since women have great influence in the family it’s them who should play a key role in promotion and preservation of local culture.

Hayuliang MLA Dasanglu Pul also in his speech thanked the Nyishi Indigenous Faith and Cultural society for recalling the contribution of late CM Kalikho Pul towards the construction of Nyishi Art and Cultural Hall.
