Arunachal Deputy CM Chowna Mein Opens State Bank of India Branch In Arunachal

Itanagar: State Bank of India (SBI) spread its wings in Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday with the inauguration of its new branch at State Civil Secretariat here by Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein.

Mein congratulated SBI for opening its 60th branch in the State and the maiden in the Civil Secretariat to cater to the banking needs of around 1,500 government employees serving in the Secretariat. Lauding the SBI for providing the much needed banking service in every nook and corners of this hilly State for the last many decades, he requested SBI’s NE Chief General Manager to further expand its branches in rural and remote areas of the state and set up ATMs and Customer Service Points wherever needed.

Mein also asked the bank to provide financial assistance to the educated youths in order to encourage them to take up enterprising business especially in Credit-linked Schemes of the government like Swalambhan, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Yojana, etc. He also asked them to improve credit-deposit ratio and assured all support of the government to the bank. Mein also made the first transaction in the branch by withdrawing cash from his account.

On the occasion, Chief General Manager Sunil Kumar Tandon thanked the state government for extending all its support and for providing a space for the establishment of the bank in the hub of the capital city. He requested the employees working in the Civil Secretariat to avail the services of the branch and to take the help of their officials in matters related to banking. Among others, former APPSC Chairman Nabam Atum, commissioners, secretaries, and officials of SBI and the civil secretariat attended the program, an official release informed here.
