Arunachal Governor BD Mishra calls for special tourism schemes under Act East Policy

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (retd) Dr BD Mishra on Wednesday urged the Centre to provide special schemes to the State under the Act East Policy to benefit tourists and local entrepreneurs. The Governor brought up this issue in a meeting with Union Minister of State for Tourism KJ Alphons at New Delhi.

Dr Mishra, who treats tourism sector as one of the prime avenues for employment generation and enhancing the State revenue, emphasised on leaving no stone unturned to harness its full potential in the State.

Sharing his recent tour to Shi Yomi, Lepa Rada, Lower Siang and Pakke Kessang districts, the Governor highlighted the efforts of the State Government and local people towards the promotion of tourism in the State. He requested the Union Minister to assist and aid the State and its people with an aim to develop the areas and venues which have tourism potential.

The Governor, who chaired a meeting of tourism officials on the concept paper for development of Parshuram Kund in Lohit district of the State recently, briefed the minister about the project. Assuring that the State Government would ensure that every paisa provided for the project would be spent as purposed, the Governor impressed upon the minister about the importance of the proposal and its implementation.
