Arunachal Home Minister Kumar Waii Advocates for Strong and Secured Border

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Kumar Waii on Thursday while referring to the long history of trade between India and Tibet advocated for a strong and secured border for security of the country.

“The State and the Central government are doing lot of works for development of the border areas in Arunachal Pradesh,” the minister said while gracing the national convention on ‘strong and secured border, a way to secured cultured and developed nation’, at Tawang, bordering China. The convention is being conducted by Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Manch (BTSM), an official communiqué informed here. “We have to provide good facilities to our Brokpas (The yak and sheep grazers) because since time immemorial they have been protecting our borders by continuously moving from one area to another,” Waii said.

“The national media should come to these border areas and give due coverage to the hardships being faced by the people living in these areas. In spite of many hardships, the people of Arunachal never fail to show their patriotism and commitment towards their motherland,” he said adding, the people of the state use Hindi as a medium of conversation. As part of its annual calendar event, the BTSM this year undertook Tawang tirth yatra.

Earlier during the day, more than 375 pilgrims from twenty different states of the country participated in a peace march from Tawang Monastery to Kalawangpo convention hall, the communiqué informed. The convention was also attended by Karma Yeshi, Finance Minister of the Tibetan Government in exile, among other dignitaries, the communiqué added.
