Arunachal Pradesh Catholic Association attends AICU meet

ITANAGAR: A delegation of the Arunachal Pradesh Catholic Association (APCA) participated in a conference organized by All India Catholic Union (AICU) at Vellanakani, Tamil Nadu from August 17 to 19.

APCA was represented by its president Taw Tebin, General Secretary Pekhi Nabam and Advisor Mige Kamki in the conference. The conference took up several issues pertaining to churches at the national and regional levels. AICU took strong exception to the growing threat to the church in India particularly the Catholic Institutions including "false allegations" levelled against the Missionaries of Charity. Church leaders from different parts of the country voiced their concern at the increasing incidents of mob lynching and cow vigilantism.

The conference univocally expressed that food habit, be it vegetarian, non-vegetarian, animal product etc should be a matter of personal choice and nobody should dictate who should eat what.

AICU lauded APCA for taking up commendable steps to mediate between Government and people in various developmental activities and issues in their state.

AICU also endorsed the APCA's bold Corruption Free Arunachal Campaign launched recently in the entire state of Arunachal Pradesh.

The AICU gave a commendation certificate to APCA recognizing its zeal to work for the welfare of the church and for the state of Arunachal Pradesh.

The AICU conference concluded with the formation of new executive committee for the session 2018-20 and the house decided to celebrate AICU's centenary at new Delhi in 2019.
