Arunachal Pradesh's pass percentage in CBSE-XII exam falls

Itanagar: The schools in Arunachal Pradesh registered a fall in the pass percentage in this year’s All India Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (AISSCE) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the results of which were declared on Thursday.

The pass percentage dropped to 41.96 percent from 44.35 percent last year – a decrease of 2.39 percent, said a release from the secondary education directorate. A total of 12,046 students had appeared for the examination, out of the total 12,424 who had registered. Of the 10 top positions among the government schools, girls secured the first three positions. Pilli Linggi, a commerce student of GHSS, Roing, Lower Dibang Valley (LDV), topped among the students of government schools in the state by scoring 91.8 percent marks.

Lukyir Taji, an arts student of GHSS, Daporijo, Upper Subansiri, secured the second position with a pass percentage of 91.4, while Yumsen Taipodia of GHSS, Likabali, Lower Siang, secured the third position by scoring 89.4 percent marks in arts.

The 4th position was secured by Vivek Singh of GHSS, IGJ, Pasighat, East Siang, by scoring 89.4 percent marks (science), the 5th by Naman Gautam of GHSS, Khonsa, Tirap, by scoring 87.8 per cent marks (arts), the 6th by Hrithik Sah of GHSS, Basar, Leparada, by scoring 87.4 per cent marks (science), the 7th by Santosh Kumar Prasad of GHSS, Tezu, Lohit, by scoring 87 per cent marks (science), the 8th by Kritika Sharma of GHSS, Roing, LDV, by scoring 86.4 per cent marks (commerce), the 9th by Pirgap Lego of GHSS, Bolung, by scoring 86.2 per cent marks (arts), and the 10th position by Tadar Sangte of GHSS, Naharlagun, by scoring 86 per cent marks (science).

Altogether 64.41 per cent of the students from the eight northeastern states has cleared this year’s AISSCE. Out of 51,322 candidates who appeared for the final examinations from the CBSE’s Guwahati region, 33,055 passed. The pass percentage among the girls was 67.92, while the boys scored 61.10 per cent, the release added.
